Just asking...Would Seth Jones be the first African-American (I don't know what is the socially acceptable word anymore) player to be drafted first overall in the NHL?

What would it seriously cost to get the #1 pick?
Obviously the 10th, and 29th/30th, plus 2 prospects?

Bill Meltzer is by far my favorite blogger, but I also like Mccann's write ups. Which Team does Miller cover?

Edit: Ah, Columbus. Yeah I like his blogs.

Roy already said he won't move out of the top 3, so unless it is a massive overpayment it's not happening...even if you started with Benn AND #10 I'd be willing to bet the Stars would have to keep adding...yes I know that sounds crazy but Roy also sounded set on drafting in the top 3 baring a huge offer he couldn't refuse...

Those big contracts have certainly slowed down. Or do players who re-sign (Perry, Getzlaf) not count since the contracts weren't handed out in free agency?

The lockout was absolute lunacy, but that lunacy is shared between both sides.

No less than what Ek stated. If the Avs are going to move out of the #1 pick and move all the way down to 10, missing out on other future studs in the top 5, it's going to take a lot.

But in the end, no team is going to make that kind of an offer & the Avs, just like the top 4 teams, will make their selections.

I love how the article states that Budaj started the 5th game as though Price was pulled. When in fact he was injured. Great journalism. whoever wrote it should likely write a blog here on HB.

it would have to be something crazy like the 10th pick and jamie benn to even have the avs consider it. cuz i think they take mackinnon not jones at number 1. the avs would want a top line player or top pair NHL dman cuz thats what they would be getting with that pick.
